Country Clubbin'

Here we are, ballin’ at the club (not ours), pretending like we fit in (we’re good fakers), trying not to get kicked out (we succeeded!).

In all seriousness, we had a delicious brunch with family, and the girls had a great time with their cousins. It wasn’t until two minutes before we left that I turned around and saw both of my children fast-crawling across the floor, at the speed of a sprint, to another table. Thankfully, it was a fast catch.

Last year on Easter, the high was eighty degrees. This year, it was forty-five, but it felt even colder, with rain. Thankfully, the Easter bunny was thoughtful and hid all of the eggs inside.

Annabelle loved the Easter egg hunt. Emmie liked it enough, but once she discovered the M&Ms inside the eggs, the thrill of the hunt was over. This worked out great so as to minimize the competition and avoid any WWE-like egg-hunting disasters (we deal with this enough with the thirty-plus baby dolls that we own). Emmie was content to sit and eat chocolate while Annabelle mad-dashed around the house for all of the eggs. A highlight of the morning was opening Easter baskets, of course. Oh, and we can’t forget Emmie’s first Cadbury egg consumption, which she promptly threw up about midway through.

We had one very minor, stage 1 semi-meltdown in the form of the refusal to let Mommy decide how hair would look today. Besides that, we made it to brunch on time, which is a miracle in and of itself.

After lunch, all of the ladies in the house took a solid nap while it rained outside. I’d rate this part of the day a perfect ten.

After naps, we spent the evening at the grandparents’ house which was another delicious meal.

It was a great Easter!
